2010 Estate Syrah

What We Taste
Graceful, grandiose, spicy and brambly. Tastes of fresh boysenberries, mocha and earthy, fresh cut leather. Finishes with spiced dark fruit character, a long, cool, satiny mouth feel and gentle, slow acting, dusty tannins. A gorgeous interpretation of Southern California Syrah.

What We Made
98% Syrah, 2% Petite Sirah. Our Estate Syrah vineyard is composed of Syrah Clones 383 and 470, and several rows of Petite Sirah #1, carefully farmed to 2-3 tons to the acre. The fruit is exquisite. The juice was cold soaked 5 days, fermented in 1 ton, open top bins, hand-punched 3 times a day, then underwent a 5 day maceration. It was cofermented and barrel aged. Cooperage included 16 months of mostly Dargaud & Jaegle, with some Radoux, Saury, Quintessence, Tonnellerie O. 45% of the oak was first use.

How We Serve
Estate Syrah shows best at about 60 degrees. That's roughly 10-15 minutes in your refrigerator before serving. It will enhance just about any roasted or grilled meat you can imagine. We also love it with lamb prepared in a Mediterranean style. Also pairs well with late night, quiet, deep philosophical thoughts.
